Peroni Bandstand with Peter Urlich

Centrally located in this festival of culinary delights will be a stunning line-up of local musicians hosted by Peter Urlich. These acts have been carefully chosen to complement the special environment that Taste creates. “Taste is one of my favourite events. Great food, wine and music – it’s a winner!”

Peter, as well as being Taste’s longtime musical director, will also DJ a set of eclectic selections, spanning the bridge between Sinatra and Steely Dan and everything inbetween.

Nairobi Trio

One of New Zealand's pre-eminent jazz combos. Consummate musicians and performers, they tour regularly throughout the world, appearing at major festivals in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, Australia and Asia, delivering a magic consumme of swinging café jazz.

 

Voxnova

Imagine The Gipsy Kings meets Buena Vista Social Club. This dynamic five piece led by Alan Macdonald, is the quintessential summer sound associated with the sophisticated Paris jazz and arts scene.

 

Cousin Alice
All the way from Sydney, smokey voiced Alice joins us with her antique banjo-ukelele and battered array of musicians. A silky sound that some consider a cross between Tom Waits & Madeleine Peyroux.

 

Hipstamatics

This funky nine-piece band plays iconic songs from all genres and eras, re-mixed and reinterpreted into completely original soul/ funk style arrangements which are upbeat, groovy and make people want to dance! Perfect for their Saturday evening slot.

 

Five Mile Town

The new hot ticket, Five Mile Town play a fresh, energetic and highly accessible brand of Indie folk with a strong blues twist. Three talented young men who are going places.

 

The Nukes

The Nukes are: David Parker (Rhythm Cage, The Parker Project), Ben Collier (Goldenhorse, The Magnets) and David ‘Snapper’ Thiele who is the eccentric glue that binds this ukulele trio together. Performing an all original repertoire of wonderful songs telling tales of local legends, they’re sure to have your toes tapping.

 

Steve Sherriff Trio

One of NZ's most respected saxophonists, Steve Sherriff has been playing music professionally for over 30 years. He has played with most of the recognised jazz big bands as a lead alto player. Steve also had success with jazz/funk band Bluetrain recently as co composer with band leader/ organist Alan Brown, featuring all original material.

 

Franko Yates

Born in New Zealand but raised by the World. Franko has toured the Globe with his straight up breed of Rock'n'Roll. Upon signing with Shock Records in early 2012 he has just realeased his long awaited Debut Album "VAGABOND" that has jumped straight to Number #11 on the NZ Album Charts.

 

Caitlin Smith

Smith has sung in a multitude of settings, residencies and festivals with her highly acclaimed Jazz/lounge trio The Fondue Set and more recently with The Caitlin Smith Trio. A highly acclaimed songwriter, she is also a consultant to professional voice users and has vocal coached many of our country's finest singers.

 

Jessica Hindin Trio

Jessica is a virtuoso violinist whose mastery of the instrument combined with her musicality enables her to create an enchanting sound. Ably assisted by acoustic bass and guitar, the trio swings, swoons and sashays through a magical setlist.
