Hopetoun Brown play Don't Let Them Lock You Up with a full six-piece band featuring congas, vibraphones, tubas, golden tonsils, bongos, cowbells, saxophones, bass guitars, hi-hats, many trumpets, a trombone, electro mechanical keyboards and one synth!
This is your chance to see Hopetoun Brown pull out all the stops performing a rare show in Auckland featuring six unique musicians. As well as core members Tim Stewart and Nick Atkinson, Hopetoun Brown will be joined on stage by the remarkable Finn Scholes, arguably the country's finest trumpet player, Scholes will also dazzle audiences on vibraphone, electric piano and tuba. Lord Echo and Weird Together percussionist Isaac Chadderton brings his congas, bells, blocks and bongos to the party and he's joined by Lawrence Arabia drummer Alistair Deverick. Singer Sophie Burbery completes the band that will swell as the event unfolds.
Hopetoun Brown are riding a wave a rave reviews for this year's WOMAD and Splore appearances and they're racking up the stars and accolades for their latest record, all the while gaining award nods from the MMF in the Best Independent Tour category for their sea-going run of shows around the Hauraki Gulf this January. The band are on fire and can't wait to make Taste of Auckland their own for one special night!!
